USER EXPERIENCE TESTING
While I attended God’s Bible School & College, I took a class on usability testing, I also studies usability testing and marketing at Northern Kentucky University. In 2018 I did an internship with the GBSC Information Technology office. As an intern and through the classes I did usability testing on many different websites.
Personas
Personas are best defined as a summary of the characteristics, needs, motivations, and environment of a certain type of website user.
Personas allow the company to design a better user experience for its customers. By understanding the web user we better understand their needs and how our website can meet those needs.
In this example, I did a persona for LEAP Ministries. This persona, Olivia Rock, represents the Youth Pastors that will visit the site looking for lesson plans.
Click Test
Click testing is a method for measuring the usability of a website by finding out how easy it is to complete a given task. The aim of a click test is to verify that the first click a user makes on a website to carry out a given task is clear and easy.
In this example, I have run a click test on the Hope International Missions website. I had 10 subjects take the test. You can see on the top, the question I asked. Below, the results show that out of the 10, 6 answered the question. And out of those 6, 5 answered the question correctly. This left us with an 83% success rating on this section of the test.
